Exeter Company of Archers

Who are the Exeter Company Of Archers?

If you live in the Exeter area, your local target archery club is the Exeter Company of Archers. The club is based at Exeter School and we total between approximately fifty to seventy archers, of all ages with skills ranging from 'novice' to county squad members, and is one of the larger clubs in Devon & Cornwall

The Exeter School facilities provide the club with an excellent location for both winter (indoor) and summer (outdoor) shooting. The club has experienced and dedicated coaches who are happy to offer assistance in a variety of archery related areas, from advice on equipment and maintenance, to coaching etc.

The club supports all styles of archery, and encourages members to explore all aspects of the sport. Archers shoot the full range of bow styles from the traditional longbow, through the popular Olympic or recurve style – both freestyle and barebow, to the technologically advanced compound bow.

Although many of our archers enjoy the sport for purely recreational purposes, we have a growing number of archers within the club who compete regularly at competitions in the South West, and further afield. A number of members also enjoy the related discipline of field archery - which normally takes place in wooded or mixed terrain, and offers quite a different type of challenge to target archery.

The club plays host to two major regional tournaments during the summer season - the DCAS Grand Day and the GWAS Intercounties Tournament both of which attract the top archers from all parts of the region.

The club is affiliated to Archery GB (the trading name of GNAS - the Grand National Archery Society), the Grand Western Archery Society (GWAS), and the Devon & Cornwall Archery Society (DCAS).

Archery GB is a member of the World Archery Federation (WA) - the International governing body for the sport of archery.
